Introducing a bold new spirit crafted to honor Patagonia. Made from authentic and native ingredients, it’s like nothing you’ve ever had before.
Patagonia is the southernmost region of South America that spans Chile and Argentina. A surreal landscape once thought to be ruled by giants, this land boasts mountains, volcanoes, ice fields, & glaciers.
Inviting. Unforgiving. Beautiful. Rugged.
This journey started with a place—a place as inviting as it is unforgiving, as beautiful as it is rugged. We fell in love with Patagonia and wanted to honor the region and its inhabitants with a spirit of its own.
TRÄ•KÁL is not an indigenous spirit that has been consumed in southern Chile for hundreds of years. It is a completely new product that is made using new methods of distillation and natural ingredients that are found only in Patagonia. We wanted to honor this rugged and beautiful place that we love with a unique spirit of its own.
We like to say TRÄ•KÁL is TRÄ•KÁL; a spirit unique enough to be both the brand and the category.
TRÄ•KÁL is derived from two words in the local Huilliche language that when combined mean “the first warrior into battle”:
TRÄ = valor, courage + KÁL = act, action
In our humble opinion, the only way a spirit can be truly authentic to a region is if it’s derived from natural ingredients that thrive in its local environment. All of our ingredients are sourced from a Patagonian micro-climate within 100 square kilometers of our distillery. We use local apple and pear varietals to create our base alcohol and work with local communities to hand-pick seven native herbs and four native berries that are all integral to our authentic spirit.
Local apples, crab-apples, and pears are used to create our base distillate. During the second distillation, juices of native berries such as maqui, murta, and sauco are blended with the base spirit. To overcome the hurdle of seasonally grown herbs, we create essential oils from each wild herb varietal in order to capture their essence year-round. We create a proprietary blend of these herbal essential oils that include tepa, laurel, mint, paramela, and canelo, which are vapor-infused in the third distillation—ultimately giving TRÄ•KÁL its unique flavor and viscosity.
The vision was to create a spirit that captures the aroma of the forests in Patagonia, and to bring it to the world. The result is a versatile spirit that is both sweet and herbaceous. TRÄ·KÁL plays well in your favorite cocktails such as a Negroni or a Daiquiri, served with tonic water or enjoyed on the rocks. Here are a few of our favorite recipes:
